His Eagle Scout project which was dubbed “Operation Warm Heads and Warm Hearts” provided over 300 hats and blankets for cancer patients receiving treatment at the Massey Cancer Center of Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center far eclipsing initial goal of 150. His special affinity towards those undergoing cancer treatment stems from his observation of his mothers cancer treatment when he was an eight grader attending Post Oak Middle School where his mother was the principal at that time. “I saw how much a comfortable hat and blanket meant to my mother when she was going through chemotherapy and I wanted to share that with others,” reported Eagle Scout Barry. The young Eagle Scout is also a fourth year JROTC student that is active on the Raiders Team as well as a third year Lacrosse player. When asked about future plans he replied that he plans to join enter the military reserves while pursuing his college degree.
